I’ve been bringing my dog over to my downstairs neighbour to help him feel less isolated, he told me it’s the best part of his day!

Our Community Guidelines

To make sure that SeeKindess is an enjoyable and informative place to be, please ensure that your posts agree with the following Community Guidelines. The Code of Conduct provides details to expand on the Terms of Service and Privacy Policy, and in case of conflict, the Terms of Use and/or Privacy Policy win.

Respect your fellow community members by not creating threads or posts that intimidate, bully or insult other people. Online harassment and griefing such as trolling, flaming, thread assassination, quote hacking, browser bombing, and impersonation is also prohibited. Trolling is deliberately posting provocative, negative or controversial messages to a thread or forum, with the intention of causing maximum disruption and argument, or to make the troll the centre of attention. Trolls will quite often try to "bait" other forum members into breaking the rules or embarrassing themselves - don't be trollbait; don't feed the trolls!

To keep things friendly, the use of swearing and vulgar language is not permitted on SeeKindness.org; this includes attempts to sidestep the automatic profanity filters and the use of slang acronyms that contain swear words.

Don't post anything that could be perceived as discriminatory, gross or offensive; such as racist, sexist, pornographic, profane, vulgar, derogatory, hateful, or threatening content and “shock” images or websites.

Don’t use the forums to “name and shame” cheaters or start campaigns to get other community members evicted.

Spamming and flooding are not permitted, although high forum use is fine as long as you are sensible. Please also avoid double-posting and creating duplicate threads.

Do not post chain letters, solicitations, pyramid schemes and advertisements. If you wish to promote your own website, please restrict this to a discrete link in your forum signature rather than creating new topics just for the exposure.

Do not post messages that support or condone any illegal activities, such as drug use, piracy, hacks, warez etc.

Do not post anything that could be considered libelous or defamatory.

Do not post copyright material on the Forum, with the exception of material that SeeKindness.org holds the copyright to. Basically, this means that posting wholesale from published books, magazines, game guides etc. is a no-no, as it could land you (and us) in it.

For your own safety when online, NEVER give out personal details such as your email, surname, postal address or phone number in the Forums, and keep other personally identifiable information private. SeeKindness.org Staff will never ask you for your password.

Our Moderators will remove large graphics that take ages to load or break the layout of the forums. To avoid your lovely images being edited out, please make sure that any images comply with the following:

If you break the rules of conduct, either intentionally or by accident, we will either edit or remove your post. Persistent or excessive misconduct may result in a temporary or even permanent suspension of your ability to post. And because these Rules can’t cover everything, we also reserve the right to remove any content or suspend your account without prior notice and at our discretion.

Flagging comments

If a comment is beyond the pale, and includes a personal attack or insult, it’s possible to flag it to bring it to the attention of the moderators.  You can do this by clicking the flag below the comment. Any user can flag an inappropriate comment.

The moderation process

Our moderation programme automatically refers for moderation comments which contain certain words. When a comment has been referred for moderation, it is suspended from the site until a moderator has approved it for publication. This process usually takes less than 24 hours.

If you notice a comment you've made does not appear on the site immediately, this is likely to be the reason why.  Unless it contains abusive language, or in any other way contravenes our community standards it will reappear on the site within 24 hours.

Personal attacks

We make a distinction between lively criticism of an argument, belief or style of writing and attacks on individuals.  Comments that are abusive to other commenters or our journalists will not be tolerated.

Hate-speech and inciting violence

We will not tolerate sexist, racist, homophobic, and other discriminatory language or views.  Nor comments which are defamatory, malicious, threatening, false, misleading, offensive or abusive.   Comments which incite violence or appear threatening or harassing will also be deleted - and those users banned.

Bad language or indecency

Comments which include swear words will automatically be referred for moderation and usually deleted.  Any swearing directed at another user will automatically be deleted (see: ‘Personal attacks’).  Experience has taught us that banning bad language raises the level of debate, so even though we know you’ve heard it all before, please keep it clean!  It’s always frustrating to have to delete an otherwise great comment, because it includes swearing.

Please also refrain from posting any content which could be seen to be indecent, obscene or of a sexual nature.

Privacy & impersonation

Respect the privacy of other commenters and don’t include personal addresses, email addresses, phone numbers or full names in your post.  Do not impersonate another user in your post.

Off-topic spats

In any online community it’s usual for regular commenters to get to know each other and each others’ views.  However please refrain from breaking off from the topic under discussion to engage in personal chats or spats.

Flagging wars

Flags are an important way for commenters to communicate with the moderator.  Please don’t abuse the flagging function by using it as a weapon in personal vendettas.
