Here’s to a person I’m proud to call a friend. Early on Tara Shioya got on to the idea of making masks not just for herself and family but giving them to community organizations in need (she and her daughter have made about 600 so far!). She then got people to donate fabric, got a grant to buy more, and connected with a bunch of kids in her daughter’s high school who wanted volunteer hours. They’ve made an additional 100 masks. The masks have been given to the Food Bank, Kits House Seniors, Covenant House, and Veterans Manor, and also to lots of people in the neighborhood.
